About Us:
Rooted in Lather is a family-owned and operated small business. Our journey began with a simple goal: to create soap that rids bathrooms of harsh chemicals, cleansers, and detergents that cause eczema flare-ups and overall dryness.
We started soaping in 2020, right in the thick of COVID-19. Being home allowed us to experiment and craft the perfect bar—hydrating, cleansing, and gentle on skin. Our soap quickly became a hit among friends and family, not just for its moisturizing qualities, but also for its surprising strength—people even used it to remove motor oil from mechanic hands! (Shocking but true!)
Mood Magic: Our First Step
After years of gifting our soap and hearing the constant question, “When are you going to sell this?”, Mood Magic was born. Because let’s be honest—when you’re clean and moisturized, it’s a whole mood!
After one year, we realized the name didn’t quite match our persona or our community. So, on January 1, 2025, we became Rooted in Lather, a name that better reflects our roots, our craft, and our community.
Our Journey by Year
2024 was a year of many firsts. We are deeply grateful for all the support we received as we navigated this new adventure. By the end of the year, we had completed 6 online orders and 102 total orders from farmers markets and craft shows. We were blown away by the love and support from strangers and new friends alike. Rooted in Lather isn’t an overnight success—it’s a story of doing what you love and slowly growing, day by day.
2025 brought growth and learning. While online sales remained small at 5 orders, our Facebook community grew from 5 to 50 followers, and we expanded our event presence with 6 total events, including the KC Fae Ball and KC Vikingfest. By the end of the year, we fulfilled 260 orders, proving that steady growth is worth celebrating.
2026 marks a new chapter. We are pulling back from overloading our schedule, focusing on farmers market once a month and attending the Central Missouri Renaissance Festival in May. We are waiting to hear back from a few other events, and will keep everyone updated on social media.
This year, we’ve decided to theme the entire year around the Rootbound Crown collection—12 unique, in-house blended scents that embody our bold, untamed, and sovereign spirit. Our goal is to grow online sales while still loving every event we attend. With building a new house and children starting to race quads, weekends are limited—but our passion for creating beautiful, handcrafted products hasn’t wavered.

Rooted In Lather NEVER uses bases, but instead creates artisan soaps, candles, and more, entirely by hand in small batches for extra quality control. Using only the highest quality food grade oils, clays, lyes and herbs on the market.
Our handmade soaps and bath and body products DO NOT contain Parabens, Sodium Lauryl Sulfates, Phosphates, harsh Chemicals, Mineral Oils or Petroleum by-products of any kind, so you can buy with confidence knowing that what you are using is made with the most sensitive of skin in mind.
Soap is NEVER tested on animals, just human friends and family!
